White Fields

We are partnering with CC Rome to the bring the gospel to the neighborhood of Tor Bella Monaca, the city of Rome, the country of Italy and ultimately the world.  Our prayer is to implement Jesus’ model of prayer, friendship evangelism, discipleship and the process of multiplication that He started when He said, “Go, make disciples of all nations…”

On the way home from our first mission trip to Italy in May 2010, a verse kept running through my mind over and over… “Lift up your eyes, and look at the fields that are white for harvest.” John 4:35

This is a very typical “missions” verse, but each time the verse went through my mind, I would picture the “white” fields we had just seen in Italy and I knew the Lord was trying to tell me something… It was springtime and north of Rome, fields and fields of fruit trees were white with blossoms. I believe the Lord was giving me picture of what He is about to do in Italy.

We’ve been privileged to witness and even be a part of the springtime, blossoming phase of what will soon become an amazing harvest in Rome and throughout Italy.

Isaiah 61 outlines the mission God gave Jesus . So… if we want to be followers of Jesus, this is our mission too. The address may be different for each of us, but the mission is the same.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” Isaiah 1:1-4

Rome is a place of ancient ruins for sure, and nothing needs to be restored as much as the hope of the simple gospel message… that we can be forgiven and become a member of God’s family, simply by believing in Jesus Christ and trusting in the finished work He accomplished in His death and resurrection. We believe that God has started rebuilding that foundation and that He has invited us to join Him in His mission there.
